Sleep of Faith

My whole perfect outfit I have planned for tomorrow depends on these pants I just finished sewing, then washing and am now drying. And you know how that went the last time.

So my whole night will be an exercise in faith. And yeah I could just plan a backup outfit but it wouldn't be nearly as enchanted, you know?

I believe in those slacks. I really do.

Do slacks matter? Does anything matter? I don't know for sure, but I do know that I feel a million times better now that I have time to sew. My world is right again, and I'm excited for the next fun thing to happen.

I think that I'd like to spend a month somewhere friendly and way tropical, and crochet a new bikini every other day in the sunshine while I work on my tan. And drink drinks out of real hollowed out pineapples. And paint my toes and fingers the color of orchids.

Sweet dreams.

Best Laid Plans

I was so jazzed that I had three crisp one dollar bills waiting in my purse, I just instantly fed them to the machine. Before I got settled or anything. That first picture is me realizing that I haven't even taken my jacket off so I'm totally not ready to be taking pictures.

In shot 2 I'm trying to take off my jacket and maybe leaning in to make out with my reflection?

Shot 3 I realize I'm stuck in the jacket and I'm hella gonna make the best of it.

Not pictured is shot 4, where I fell out of frame trying to show you my Air Max 90s, and how they perfectly matched my t-shirt. So fitted.

But doing too much.

It's not enough to recover a little. I have to try the next thing and the next thing and the next.

Work like. Kicked my ass last week. I spent the night there twice, I worked one night until the sun was rising over the East Bay and everything was so pink and golden. I wanted to cry though. Because I knew that meant the next day was there and every thing that was on my list labeled "tomorrow" was now a "today" thing and mother fuck.

Like that.

There was this determination like I've never felt in my life aside from sewing. When I'm just committed to getting something done.

We all did that. Stayed until it was done. And there were hella 3 AM smoke breaks on deserted ass Townsend, takeout dinners, crazy conversations and seriously? I have never had so much red bull in my life. I never want to see it again. The thought of it makes my head ache.

And then the site went live and I went home and slept sleep like it was a thousand years coming. That ruled.

Now I'm almost back to normal. I started these pants tonight. They are stylish like I would wear to a nightclub and adventurous like I would wear for digging up dinosaur bones in Montana.

So tired rabbit. I survived on red bull and kindness last week. This week it's just kindness.

And you! How I've missed you so.

I got vaca coming up I'm finna really get creative. Ooh I can't wait.

Goodnight.

A Prism For God's Light To Shine Through

My whole life is covered in small black pieces of fuzz, now. The good news is that it's been a banner weekend for cartoons. Also, tomorrow I get paid for spending my weekend sewing and sweeping up fake fur.

This fuzzy hooded cape-scarf was worth one pair of sneakers, 9 stems of stagazer lilies and a nice brunch. That will do for now.

Also:

Hee. I got this card for my sister.

*********

I don't really get a break. Just. My dreams tonight. Then I'm back at it tomorrow.

Y tĂș?

Sleep well.

Lookin For Love

Bootleg, but explanatory:

When everyone else is smoochin and you aren't. Well. It can make you grumpy.

This morning is for cartoons and video games. Last week was major at work, to the point where I was dreaming about it almost every night. It's like that guy says in Waking Life. Not bad enough I'm selling them my days, but I'm giving them my nights for free.

But not my weekends. Ha. My weekends are when I actually make my Life. The one with a capital "L".

Not pictured: pink nails, calculator

Third time was the charm. I felt like a tulip or something, wearing this dress yesterday. My best days are always well-dressed, chances of personal catastrophe are minimized greatly when I look like a flower.

So this afternoon I'm shopping for more fabric, and groceries and candy, and later on tonight there is a houseparty. Maybe. Or maybe I'll keep making tulip dresses.

Yesterday was dressy but today calls for a pirate getup. Adventure abounds. Yar.

Fortune

I woke up today and really only had one thing on my mind. That's a rare state of grace, I dove into it and I've done nothing but smoke and sew today. Tha's jacket has accents the exact color blue of my favorite ice cream.

Couple that with my perch at the window, and all the boys on motorcycles riding by today.

Also, just because I'm busy sewing doesn't mean I'm not also busy thinking about things. That's really the best thing about sewing, it's very meditative work.

That's all I've done this weekend. I've been sleeping in and babying me, enjoying the last minute decision I made not to go to LA on Friday. Tomorrow I'm back on my grind, and it will be a few more days before I can come up for air again.

And when I do, this jacket will be finished.

Wish me luck.

At The End Of Our Streets, The Stars

Yesterday I made the trip to Cole Valley to go to Zazie, which makes this awesome BLT with chevre on it, and this really great gooey sundae. I was amped for that exactly, but when I got there I found they were closed for renovations until next week.

I was in a grand mood already so I went to the Beach Chalet and ate overpriced chicken while I watched the ocean. The best thing about the Beach Chalet is the seating, you can look right out at forever if you're patient.

Downstairs there are frescos, and mosaics for almost everything.

On the way home I stopped to check on my concrete, which is still in good shape.

But there is something about driving. And lately to be honest with you I haven't been feeling very good in my skin. When I feel that way the best thing I find is to take my skin out on the town. Not climb into a little box and listen to music and rush from one place to another. But actually like. Go walking.

So today that's what I did. I needed more fabric swatches.

On the way I saw a lot. It was nice just to smoke and walk and look at people, and not have to worry about traffic or police. Plus I could see things for real.

And walking down Haight I found out about this movie, which I'm going to see later this week. I never would have bothered to look it up, but walking and stoned I couldn't pass the Red Vic without picking a movie to go to soon. Their popcorn is delicious. All I could think of was buttery popcorn, and I drifted over in a daze and read about The Dhamma Brothers, and now I'm going to see it with Robin next week.

See? I really needed to go on a walk.

At the fabric store I found swatches, and this crazy fabric with poodles all over it.

I think it's delicious, but I have no idea what I'll use it for. I'm gonna line whatever it is with whipped cream white satin though. And probably buy some sneakers to match it.

I have work to do tonight, for work tomorrow. Wish me luck.

Happy Sunday.

I Can Exercise You, This Can Be Your Phys Ed

When this video comes out I'm sure it will be trashy and awesome. This is fire.

Yesterday was a wash. I woke up at 9 or something, but then had fruit salad and blunts and mimosas for breakfast. And you know that meant a nap at like 11 that lasted until well into the afternoon. I spent the rest of the day working out and perfecting various lounging positions on my couch, which is surprisingly sturdy to be so small and adorable.

I played Nintendo.

I went on one walk, to get bubble gum ice cream from this place down the street. I love bubble gum ice cream. Like. Officially. I want a t-shirt that says that.

And a three finger ring with my first and middle names on it.

Life is shiny.

I went to bed nice and early and my dreams were really good so I slept until almost noon. I dressed sort of like a doll and by the time I left the house I was pretty tartish looking, but very satisfied to balance that out. Kind of in my own world. Already thinking about tomorrow.

A co-worker of mine commissioned me to make some cushions for a bench in his backyard. I like this project because it will pay well and it's challenging. It's about structure and engineering as well as aesthetics. I did the simple stuff today: he gave me a picture that suggested a color scheme and I spent today collecting samples and making him this.

Which was super quick to throw together and will make it easier for him and his girlfriend to choose a fabric. Or at least to get closer to what we will eventually use, you know?

Half of my day job is just like my life and seems inescapable. Presenting ideas to people, and trying to frame things in a way that the most important information is at the forefront. And adherence to artistic considerations, which dictate doing all of this very gracefully.

And doing everything. Literally and figuratively. On one page whenever I can (everywhere but here, ha!), because people have short attention spans.

Also?

I love this monkey!

I'm supposed to be writing. Like. For realsies. So lately a lot of time has been spent procrastinating. Which gives me the opportunity to walk aimlessly on Haight and find stuff like this:

Yummmmmm. Peach and clear at the same time.

Or so I thought. But I'm not sure I like the way they taste. Imma buy more flavors.

Yesterday I ordered hell of Japanese food so my whole life is katsu, for the last 24 hours. It's delicious but for dinner tonight I think I'm just gonna eat a whole pineapple, or something else that hasn't been fried. Or dipped in delicious hot mustard.

Happy Sunday.

GAME PLAN FLAWLESS LIKE PERFECT DIAMONDS

Just like 5 minutes ago we launched this website that I swear we've been working on for like a hundred years or something. It got legal and political and dramatic and delayed a bunch of times but yeah. It's finally done and live. A thing completed is one of my favorite things in the world.

See also: Tietjen's jacket.

And with all the reasons to celebrate, tonight's the one night I haven't gone out for antics since I got off vacation. I was shocked, walking into my house at a reasonable hour. And the only things I have to do are laundry and exercise.

And of course. Write you this little love note, my dear.

There's not a real video for this song yet, but here goes:

I kinda have a tingle for Mack 10. I think his delivery is yum.

Kay I feel like I have a gang of shit to do so I'm out. I got a meeting tomorrow at like 9 and I'm tired as hell. I been sleeping funny. I've burned so many bridges that I see the ashes in my dreams.

Night.
