Comes to Terms

Ah. It is like getting into an ice cold pool. You can dip in a toe and sort of gauge what you are in for, then maybe go lay out in the sun for a little while longer. The hope is that you get hot enough to commit to the ice coldness. But then the sun threatens to go down and you take a dive or your big brother picks you up and tosses you in.

Brrrr. Just. Shiver.

Not a surprise. But no less cold because of that. It's the suddenness that makes it feel like a betrayal.

I'm talking in dumb metaphors again, I don't have a choice. This is the secret map to me, but the legend is conveyed over whiskey or coffee or fresh spring rolls. It's not the sort of thing that needs to just be floating around out there, unattended.

I can show you where the X is, but I have to do that in person.

The last 2 weeks have been wild. If I told you the story about what happened to me on Friday you wouldn't believe it. If I tried to explain Monday through Wednesday you would probably just shake your head.

Today Rach and I took advantage of the fact that the whole city was watching television and went to the Academy. It was relatively empty. We saw the rainforest from bottom to top, then watched the planetarium show.

Did you know that each of us contains a teaspoon of the elements created by the stars at the very beginning of Everything? Does that shock you?

It explains a lot, I think.
