Lola was doing the dishes again. For the fourth time that day, actually. Doing dishes gave her Zen like Bruce Lee. More importantly, doing dishes situated her so that she could stare out of the kitchen window and avoid eye contact with him. Bonus.
Lola had 23 pairs of stiletto heels. He'd counted them, so he knew that for a fact. She was wearing a pair of them now, along with an electric blue wig that she only wore when she was planning on disappearing for the night. He started wondering where she'd end up.
It didn't matter. When the phone rang they could both only hope that it wasn't the neighbor lady again, complaining about the noise and insinuating that there was something immoral about the two of them living together. These calls inevitably caused arguments. Or at the very least, questions that were meant to start arguments.
But whether or not Lola had slept with the neighbor lady's husband was immaterial, not worth discussing. What mattered was the Do Not Disturb sign they'd placed on their relationship. Everything would end up alright. Just let the phone ring until it stopped.
It always stopped.
The only good thing about intrusions was how they brought a feeling of solidarity down all around them. Intrusions brought to light the fact that they were both just kids making their way through an increasingly scary forest. Intrusions made them cling together. Intrusions made love really happen.
She glanced up from the pot she was scrubbing and saw the Sheriff's car pull into the driveway.

I kinda remembered what a person is supposed to do when they aren't working at a party. Basically, you just party. The rest takes care of itself. People are magnetized, a state of grace can be attained.
The world is pretty open, if you're feeling open already. The world is like loving a very rare kind of person.
Tomorrow is major, right? Well. Kinda. Work. A lot of it. And then my company's holiday party, at which I have to maintain my class and my sassy at the same time for like 4 hours straight.
Word.
I'll keep you posted.
