Thirty Four

not real time, but in time

Okay so yesterday was my official birthday, but I started celebrating on Saturday cause I'm thorough. I'm going to avoid blow by blows by making a delicious list for you, and pay attention cause there is a quiz after.

To celebrate my birthday I:

1. Watched the good part of Casino (just past the point where he gives her that box filled with jewelry, after that it's pretty much all downhill)

2. Took an hour long bath

3. Drank champagne

3a. Posed for scandalous photos with our new president

4. Drank more champagne

4a. Saw Paul Mooney at the Black Rep with my best friend in the whole world

5. Drank more champagne

6. Smoked a blunt in my best friend's kitchen

7. Went to a night spot

8. Drank more champagne

9. Had a shot of whiskey

9a. Flashed over some really trifling shit

10. Got a new telescope!

11. Ate breakfast at Lois the Pie Queen

12. Fucked

12a. Snuggled

13. Had delicious homemade beef stew

14. Slept like a baby

15. Ate noodles and drank tea with Liz

16. Got a gang of notes and phone calls and generally felt super well-loved


Okay now the hard part. Only one of those things is less than awesome, can you tell which one? Do you speak that language? And even better: have you built a time machine yet?

Then I could take it back or move myself far enough into the future that it wouldn't seem so catastrophic. A few days would do it.

It's never so much the thing I am looking at as it is where I am looking at it from.

Was that even grammatically correct?

At dinner tonight Liz said getting to know another person is like looking into a mirror. Like, for real. Overall I feel very calm about that, but I believe in magic mirrors so I think I am biased.

Tonight I saw the moon through my new telescope and got a shiver.
