Last night at dinner for Rachel's birthday: I was opening my heart to dearest Robin, and this sweet girl I'd just met was pouring wine for everyone. I tried to deal with both at once and turned to the new girl mid-thought. She was pouring me a glass of wine and we both spoke at the same time:
"Do you want some more wine?"/"I really want a boyfriend."
And we laughed and she refilled me and I made amendments. Several of them. Enough maybe, for people to want to roll their eyes at me.
But I'm pretty sure that's just how I am, dude. When I was a kid I didn't make Christmas lists. I was very serious. I went through the Sears catalog and wrote down item numbers, names and prices for every single thing I wanted.
And because I was a kid. And because it was Sears. And because who can resist an 8 year old project manager. I got just about everything I asked for, you know?
I learned early that being specific has its advantages. The one time I asked for "a horse or a pony or something like that", it did not go over nearly as well.
Specific has its drawbacks, too. But I choose to focus on the good stuff.
Good day. My site launched yesterday. I'm so proud like a mama with a new baby.
Happy Thursday.
