Simply Beautiful

It's Monday and I'm nostalgic, but optimistic too. Life isn't all about looking back I guess.

I think this is one of the prettiest songs ever.

  2. I know I find this song to be so sweet I almost ache listening to it.

This is our secret spot where I will throw applause, instead of money.

    This, for instance:

i think my problem lies in what i’ve taught myself to find appealing in life. grandiose gestures and everyone talking with their eyes and a sense of every bed in the neighbourhood being covered with immaculate white linen AS LONG AS someone is dealing crack down every street. clear skin, light the colour of madrid and pretending the ripples on the canal all move towards the most impressive house on the lot.

these impossible visions that scream romance and significance and worth to me are really just arbitrary and cinematic stories told by people who live mostly in their heads.

what good are we to the world if we have no reason to leave our homes?

whatever whatever whatever. i can’t fancy it all.

    is perfect. Brava!

  3. ah! thank you for your applause although the sentiment discussed makes me so impossibly dreamy. all the people around me are constantly irritated by these secret messages i'm waiting to be sent from the great and romantic cosmos.

and like. laughing. because i am learning spanish from my nintendo DS instead of a book. which, incidentally, i think deserves an internet emoticon: :D.

    ill-advised and unrealistic: meg.

but then i think.. see how it works for me? i get secret spots with people like you.

genuinely excited over internet presence of a bona fide superstar: meg.

    ANGELINA. HOW ARE YOU?

  4. the great and romantic cosmos is about the only thing worth waiting on correspondence from. dig?

i am okay. i am hanging in there. i am excited about a bunch of stuff and nervous about a bunch of stuff and all in all i think it's gonna be okay. that state of mind.

IS MEG DELUXE? YES SHE IS. DON'T YOU AGREE?

  5. i frequent this local message board that is patronised mostly by brisbane garage bands and someone started a thread called 'everything will be okay', and people would post stuff that happened to them when they were sad or angry or whatever and everyone else would reassure them it would be fine. and we all got our solutions and good fortune.

in short: it is a state of mind not to be sniffed at.

    excited and nervous is awesome.

i have spent like thirty seconds trying to come up with some chant like. you can't spell d-e-l-u-x-e without m-e-g but i totally sucked at it. like, a lot.

    :(

(wow this is a really long comment but i am AN OPEN COMMUNICATOR [read also: bored at work] so whatever. i am studying the history of music at university and we are talking about gregorian chants and how the church tried to squash music and then took dominion over it and how people created harmony accidentally because only the males were allowed to sing so they got the young sirs to do the high parts and their voices happened to be - like - an octave or some shit below the adult's which just accidentally alerted someone to harmony eventually.

also, sometimes they WEREN'T an octave apart because they sucked and were out of tune. and. um. something about out of tune-ness usually occurred at specific intervals.. and it is those intervals that we now use to create chords.

isn't that cool? i'm not even going to read back over that and check for coherence.)

  6. ummmm i DID read back over it and. look. i'm not neurotically flooding your comments, i promise. it's just that i typed "an octave or some shit below the adult's" when i meant.. above the adults'. an octave higher. and in plural form.

    that is all.
